THE COLLABORATION
WHITE LOTUS is the third limited wearable art collaboration between Sittingsuits and British-Turkish artist Özlem Thompson. The work developed while Thompson was reading The Brothers Karamazov, where questions of existence and introspection informed the direction of the painting.
The collaboration continues a shared interest in moving contemporary art into functional formats where design, comfort and creative expression can coexist.
THE ARTIST
Özlem Thompson works from an artistic foundation shaped by science and intuition. Her earlier studies in biology and botany continue to influence her approach to form, structure and visual rhythm.
Her practice brings together expressionist colour, surrealist influence and organic abstraction. Natural forms are not reproduced literally; they become part of an imagined ecosystem with its own internal movement and symbolism.
THE ARTWORK
The original WHITE LOTUS painting was created in acrylic on linen in 2023. Across the Sittingsuit surface, its organic forms and intense colour move beyond the frame and change with the person wearing it.
Artist Edition #12 was produced as a limited edition of 200 pieces.
