THE COLLABORATION
Love can be quiet, expressive, personal or shared. KÆRLIGHED is a limited wearable art collaboration between Sittingsuits and Danish-Australian artist Mika Utzon Popov, created around the idea that love begins with meeting one another as equals.
The edition was photographed with Danish cultural figure Ditlev Tamm inside Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen. Surrounded by marble, stillness and natural light, the setting underlines the work’s balance between structure, movement and individual expression.
THE ARTIST
Mika Utzon Popov is a Danish-Australian artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture and architectural installations. Raised between cultures and within a family of artists and architects, he explores the tension between form and freedom, structure and spontaneity.
His work is shaped by space, light and the way people move through their surroundings. With KÆRLIGHED, those ideas are extended into touch, clothing and the body.
THE ARTWORK
The artwork unfolds in Mediterranean-inspired colours. Red, yellow, blue and pink move against a dark ground that gives the composition depth and allows the colours to sing.
Across the Sittingsuit surface, the work shifts with the wearer and turns Mika Utzon Popov’s exploration of love and equality into a physical, shared expression. Artist Edition #10 was produced as a limited edition of 200 pieces.
